SURRA, Daniel A., a Representative from Clearfield and Elk Counties; born in Ridgway, Elk County, Pa., June 19, 1953; graduated, Elks County Christian High School, 1971; attended, The Pennsylvania State University, 1976; high school teacher; school director, St. Mary’s School District; founder, Citizens Action for a Safe Environment; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1991 term; reelected and served 8 consecutive terms thereafter; elected, Majority Caucus Administrator (2007-2008); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (2008); elected, alternate delegate, Democratic National Convention (2004); senior advisor, Pennsylvania Wilds Initiative, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (2009-2011); executive director, Governor’s Advisory Board on Hunting, Fishing and Conservation (2009-2011); co-chair, Citizens Marcellus Shale Commission (2011-2016); chair, Governor's Advisory Council on Hunting, Fishing and Conservation (2016-present).
