BAILEY, Samuel Nelson, a Representative from York County; born, November 3, 1809 in Dillsburg, York County, Pa.; lieutenant colonel, 41st Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861-1862, Civil War); surveyor; farmer; teacher; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1842; reelected to the House in 1843 and 1844; clerk, Pennsylvania Auditor General’s office (9 years); elected, surveyor, York County (1865-1868); died, February 15, 1872 in Dillsburg, York County, Pennsylvania; interred, Monaghan United Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Dillsburg, York County, Pennsylvania.
