PICKING, William Samuel, a Representative from York County; born, March 10, 1807 in Dover, York County, Pa.; surveyor and scrivener; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1841; reelected to the House in 1842, and 1843; assistant chief clerk, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1854); director and secretary, Dover, Conewago, Newberry, East and West Manchester Mutual Fire Insurance Company (1856-1857); clerk to commissioners, York County; died, April 15, 1865 in Dover, York County, Pennsylvania; interred, Salem Union Cemetery, Dover, York County, Pennsylvania.
