HAINES, Kirk, a Representative from Perry County; born, 1814 in Cecil County, Md.; lumber merchant; postmaster, United States Postal Service, New Port (now Newport), Pa. (1839-1845); elected as an American party candidate to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1854; reelected to the House as a Republican (1855); elected, delegate, Republican State Convention (1860, 1868); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1865-1867); manager, Novelty Iron Works, agricultural implement manufacturer; died, September 10, 1878 in Millerstown, Perry County, Pennsylvania; interred, Millerstown Memorial Cemetery, Millerstown, Perry County, Pennsylvania.
