JONES, Nicholas, a Representative from Schuylkill County; born, September 16, 1811 in Amity, Bucks County, Pa.; lieutenant colonel, Schuylkill County Militia (1843); employed, iron forge (1829-1833); superintendent, Susanna Forge (1833-1838); manager, Schuylkill Furnace; manager, Jones and Keim & Co., furnace (1839-1841); co-operator, Hecla Furnace (1841-1843); proprietor, flour and saw mill (1843-1870); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1850 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1851 term; farmer; senior partner, Jones and Clous hardware business (1871-1881); president, Berks County Agricultural Society; director, National Union Bank; died, February 20, 1897 in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania; interred, Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
