McFADDEN, Obediah Benton, a Representative from Washington County; born, November 8, 1815 in West Middletown, Washington County, Pa.; attended, McKeever Academy; served, United States Army (1855-1856, Yakima War); attorney (1843-1875); elected, commissioner, Washington County (1842); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1844 term; elected, prothonotary, Washington County (1845-1848); presidential appointee, associate justice, Territory of Oregon Supreme Court (1853-1854); presidential appointee, associate justice, Territory of Washington Supreme Court (1854-1861; chief justice, 1858-1861); president, Washington Legislature Council Chamber (1861-1864); farmer; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Chehalis, Wa. (1870); elected, Congressional Delegate, Washington Territory (1873-1875); not a candidate for reelection to Congress; died, June 25, 1875 in Olympia, Thurston County, Territory of Washington; interred, Masonic Cemetery, Olympia, Thurston County, Territory of Washington.
