MORGAN, John, a Representative from Fayette County; born, August 8, 1790 in Springhill Township, Fayette County, Pa.; colonel, Pennsylvania Militia (War of 1812); whitesmith; boat captain; elected, town clerk, Bridgeport (1818-1820, 1836-1840); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1843, 1844 and 1845 terms; farmer; elected, school director, Springhill Township (1853); died, January 5, 1880 in Springhill Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.
