BROOKE, Hugh Jones, a Representative of Delaware County; born, December 27, 1805 in Radnor Township, Delaware County, Pa.; captain, United States Volunteers Commissary Department, Washington, DC (1861-1863, Civil War); elected, delegate, National Anti-Masonic Convention (1835); farmer; elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1843 term, reelected to the House for the 1844 term; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1849-1851, 1870-1872); director, Bank of Media; vice president, Pennsylvania Training School for Feeble Minded Children; director, Delaware Mutual Insurance Company; died, December 19, 1876 in Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania; interred, Old Saint David Church Cemetery, Wayne, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
