POWELL, Howell, a Representative from Crawford County; born, March 11, 1804 in Utica, Oneida County, NY; farmer; horse and steer breeder; elected, constable, Spring Township, Crawford County (1826-1832); unsuccessful campaign, sheriff, Crawford County (1840); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1853); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1854); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1855); died, February 11, 1873 in Shadeland, Crawford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Spring Cemetery, Springboro, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
