DAVIS, William H., a Representative from Crawford County; born, 1810 in Meadville, Crawford County, Pa.; graduated, Washington College (now, Washington & Jefferson College); private, Company F, 83rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861-1863, Civil War); attorney (1838); deputy attorney general, Crawford County (1841-1843); elected, delegate, Democratic State Convention (1844); elected, burgess, Meadville (1853); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1854 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1855 term; died, April 16, 1869 in Rock Island, Rock Island County, Illinois; interred, Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island, Rock Island County, Illinois.
