IVES, Timothy, a Representative of Clinton, Lycoming and Potter Counties; born, February 6, 1800 on Beechers Island, Tioga County, Pa.; school teacher; elected, treasurer, Tioga County (1825-1826); cloth and dry goods merchant; appointed, justice of the peace, Coudersport; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Coudersport (1832); associate judge, Potter County Courts (9 years); trustee, Coudersport Academy (1837-1842); proprietor, The Potter Pennon (1839-1842), The Democratic Republican (1842-1843), The Potter Pioneer (1843-1851), The Union (1851-1854), the Highland Patriot (1854-1858), and the Northern Democrat (1858-1860), all of Coudersport; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1846, 1847 and 1848 terms; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1849-1851); appointed, superintendent, Portage Railroad (1851-1852); lumberman; engaged, railroad construction; died, October 18, 1864 in Coudersport, Potter County, Pennsylvania; interred, Eulalia Cemetery, Coudersport, Potter County, Pennsylvania.
