BURNSIDE, James, a Representative from Centre and Clearfield Counties; born, February 22, 1809 in Bellefonte, Centre County, Pa.; attended, Bellefonte Academy; graduated, Dickinson College, 1828; lawyer (1830-1859); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1845 and 1846 terms; member, Democratic State Central Committee (1851); judge, 28th judicial district, Centre, Clearfield and Clinton Counties (appointed, 1853; elected, 1853-1859); died, July 1, 1859 in Bellefonte, Centre County, Pennsylvania; interred, Union Cemetery, Bellefonte, Centre County, Pennsylvania.
