BLAIR, William H., a Representative from Centre County; born, July 16, 1821 in Milesburg, Centre County, Pa.; first lieutenant, Company H, 4th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861, Civil War); captain, Company G, 51st Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861-1862, Civil War); colonel, 179th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1863, Civil War); brigadier general, United States Volunteer Army (1865, Civil War); lawyer; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1851 and 1852 terms; unsuccessful campaign, treasurer, Centre County; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1861); died, December 7, 1888 in Bellefonte, Centre County, Pennsylvania; interred, Union Cemetery, Bellefonte, Centre County, Pennsylvania.
