WHARTON, Samuel S., a Representative from Blair and Huntingdon Counties; born, 1806 in Newton Hamilton Township, Mifflin County, Pa.; attorney (1831-1862); appointed, Deputy Attorney General, Huntingdon County (1836); elected, delegate, Anti-Mason State Convention (1837); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1853 term; unsuccessful reelection to the House for the 1854 and 1858 terms; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1861-1862); died while in office of the Senate, June 3, 1862 in Huntingdon, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania; interred, Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.
