MYERS, John C., a Representative from Berks County; born, circa 1823 in Berks County, Pennsylvania; printer; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1846, 1847, and 1848; owner and editor, Berks County Press (1847-1865); elected as a Republican to the Nebraska State House of Representatives (1871-1873); elected, president, Nebraska Constitutional Convention (1871); presidential appointee, consul-general, Shanghai, China (1875-1877); elected, Nebraska State Senate (1881-1883); died, September 18, 1890 in St. James, Cedar County, Nebraska.
