FOSTER, Henry Donnel, a Representative from Fayette and Westmoreland Counties; born, December 19, 1808 in Mercer, Mercer County, Pa.; attended, Meadville Academy; lawyer (1829-1880); elected, United States Congress (1843-1847, 1871-1873); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1857 and 1858 terms; unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1858, 1866, 1868, 1872); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania Governor (1860); died, October 16, 1880 in Irwin, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Old Saint Clair Cemetery, Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
