DONOVAN, Cornelius M., a Representative from Philadelphia City; second lieutenant, Company D, 16th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861, Civil War); elected, Board of Health, Philadelphia (1857); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1858 term; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1862-1867); elected, Democratic Executive Committee, Philadelphia (1863); presidential appointee, Revenue Agent for the State of Texas (1868); special agent, United States Treasury Department (1869-1872); died, January 14, 1872 in Austin, Travis County, Texas.
