BRYSON, James Dobbs, a Representative from Beaver and Lawrence Counties; born, 1817 in Butler County, Pa; mill wright; mechanist; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1859 and 1860 terms; not a candidate for election to the House for the 1861 term; United States Patent holder, curb for water wheels (1868) and improvements in water wheels (1869); unsuccessful campaign, associate judge, Lawrence County (1886); elected, commissioner, Lawrence County (1874, 1875-1877); died, August 2, 1895 in New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania; interred, Greenwood Cemetery, New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.
