BURLEY, Jacob, a Representative from Blair County; born, January 29, 1817 in Franklin Township, Huntingdon County, Pa.; engaged, carpentry (1832-1847); engaged, mercantile business (1848-1852); elected, commissioner, Blair County (1849-1852); elected, council, Tyrone; freight and ticket agent, Pennsylvania Railroad (1852-1858); sawmill owner and operator (1858-1867); lumber merchant (1858-1867); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1858 and 1859; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1860); director, Tyrone, Clearfield and Erie Railroad; director and stock holder, Bald Eagle Valley Railroad; owner and operator, coal yard (1867-1888); director, Tyrone Gas and Water Company; elected, justice of the peace, Tyrone (1885-1889); died, January 7, 1889 in Tyrone, Blair County, Pennsylvania; interred, Grandview Cemetery, Tyrone, Blair County, Pennsylvania.
