WILLIAMS, Thomas, a Representative from Allegheny County; born in Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pa., August 28, 1806; graduated, Dickinson College, 1825; lawyer (1828-1912); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1838-1841); not a candidate for reelection to the Senate; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1861 and 1862 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House; elected, United States Congress (1863-1869); appointed, manager, Congresssional Impeachment proceedings of President Andrew Johnson (1868); not a candidate for reelection to Congress; died, June 6, 1872 in Allegheny City (now Pittsburgh), Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
