BROWN, John Woods, a Representative from Northumberland County; born, December 1, 1826 in White Deer Valley, Union County, Pa.; attended, Milton Academy; attended, Ewensville Academy; graduated, Jefferson College, 1848; graduated, law, Lafayette College, 1851; corporal, Company A, 3rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1862, Civil War); lawyer (1853-1880); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1862 and 1863 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1864 term; elected, president, First National Bank of Milton (1863-1888); died, January 6, 1888 in Milton, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Milton Cemetery, Milton, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.
