DENNISTON, William H., a Representative from Allegheny County; born in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa., November 15, 1835; attended, business college; private, Company D, 70th Regiment, New York Volunteer Infantry (Civil War); farmer; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Union Republican for the 1864 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1865 term; engaged, sand and ice business; proprietor, Denniston & Ripple Real Estate firm; organizer and president, East End Gas Company; organizer and director, City Deposit Bank; president, Dowlin & Rush Land and Cattle Company; elected, council, 20th Ward, Pittsburgh (6 years); died, May 22, 1901 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
