HASLETT, William, a Representative from Butler, Lawrence, and Mercer Counties; born, 1816 in Antrim County, Ireland; attended, Western University (now University of Pittsburgh); read law under judge John Bredin; lawyer (1837-1846); editor and publisher, Butler County Whig (1846-1855); elected as a Whig, Pennsylvania State Senate (1850-1852); publisher, Butler County American (1859-1865); elected as a Union Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1863; reelected to the House as a Republican in 1864; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1865); editor and publisher, Butler County Press (1867-1869); appointed, United States Store Keeper (1870-1872); died, December 10, 1872 in Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania; interred, North Side Cemetery, Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania.
