ARMSTRONG, David Bottomfield, a Representative from Bedford, Fulton and Somerset Counties; born, September 11, 1835 in Bedford County, Pa.; first sergeant, Company F, 37th Regiment, 8th Pennsylvania Volunteer Reserves (1861-1864, Civil War: prisoner of war, Belle Island and Libby Prison, 1862); second lieutenant, Company I, 194th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1864, Civil War); miller; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1864 and 1865; member, board of arbitrators, Blair County courts (20 years); engaged, mercantile business (26 years); co-owner and editor, Bedford Inquirer (1891-1901); died, August 7, 1914 in Bedford, Bedford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Bedford Cemetery, Bedford, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.
