COLEMAN, George Dawson, a Representative from Lebanon County; born, January 13, 1825 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa.; attended, Princeton University; graduated, University of Pennsylvania, 1843; proprietor, North Lebanon Furnaces; philanthropist; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1862 and as a Union Republican in 1863; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1867-1869); gubernatorial appointee, State Board of Charities (1867-1878); died, September 9, 1878 in Lebanon, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania; interred, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
