WHANN, Dr. Walter Lowrie, a Representative from Venango and Warren Counties; born, April 5, 1819 in Venango County, Pa.; attended, New Hagerstown Academy; attended, Franklin College (now defunct), 1847; attended, Starling Medical College, 1849-1850, 1855-1856; M.D., Jefferson Medical College (now Sidney Kimmel Medical College), 1868; appointed, surgical director, Western Pennsylvania, United States Army (Civil War); physician; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Clintonville (1864-1866); elected as a Union Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1865 and 1866; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1867); appointed, county physician, Venango County; died, February 15, 1913 in San Diego, San Diego County, California; interred, Greenwood Memorial Park, San Diego, San Diego County, California.
