CHASE, Joseph Titus, a Representative from Crawford County; born, June 17, 1829 in Titusville, Crawford County, Pa.; attended, Allegheny College; first sergeant, Company G, 58th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1863, Civil War); clerk, mercantile store; elected, council, Titusville; elected, prothonotary, Crawford County (1860-1863); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1866; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1867); appointed, deputy collector, United States Internal Revenue Service (1870-1871); engaged, oil business; notary public; died, February 26, 1897 in Titusville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Woodlawn Cemetery, Titusville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
