MAISH, Levi, a Representative from York County; born, November 22, 1837 in Conewago Township, York County, Pa.; attended, York County Academy (now York College of Pennsylvania); colonel, 130th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1863, Civil War); teacher, Manchester Township, York County; studied law under D.J. Williams; lawyer (1864-1890); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1866 and 1867; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1868); appointed, Commission to Re-Audit Accounts to York County officers (1872); elected, United States Congress (1875-1879, 1887-1891); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to Congress (1878, 1890); died, February 26, 1899 in Washington, D.C.; interred, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia.
