JONES, Richmond Legh, a Representative from Berks County; born, February 17, 1840 in Quincy, Gadsden County, Fl.; graduated, University of Heidelberg, Germany; studied law under J. Glancy Jones; private, Company E, 11th Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (Civil War, 1862); captain, 53rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (Civil War, 1863); lawyer (1863-1923); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1866, 1867, and 1868; nominated, Speaker (1869); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1869); president, board of trustees, Reading Library; died, July 2, 1923 in Atlantic City, Atlantic County, New Jersey; interred, Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
