WILCOX, Alonzo Isaiah, a Representative from Cameron, Elk, Jefferson, McKean and Warren Counties; born, March 22, 1819 in Danube, Herkimer County, NY; attended, Lima Academy; colonel, aide-de-camp, Governor Packer and Governor Geary, Pennsylvania National Guard; engaged, lumber trade; superintendent, railroad construction; oil producer; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Williamsville, Pa. (1841) and Wilcox, Pa. (1859-1861); elected, justice of the peace, Ridgeway Township, Pa. (1846); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1847 and 1848; reelected as a Republican to the House in 1872; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1849, 1872); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1860); vice president, Bradford, Bordell and Kinzna Railroad; elected, Sheriff, McKean County (1881-1884); died, July 28, 1899 in Hackensack, Bergen County, New Jersey; interred, Hackensack Cemetery, Hackensack, Bergen County, New Jersey.
