PURSELL, Sextus Cesar, a Representative from Bucks County; born, March 31, 1841 in Nockamixon Township, Bucks County, Pa.; graduated, Charlottesville Academy, NY; private, Company D, 45th Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1863, Civil War); clerk, Belvidere Delaware Railroad Company (1863-1867, 1870); clerk, Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company (1867-1870); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1870 and 1871; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1872); ticket agent, Pennsylvania Railroad Company (1874-1895); assistant state bank examiner, Pennsylvania Department of Banking (1895-1899); elected, city council, Philadelphia (1899-1900); died, December 26, 1900 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Pursell Burying Ground, Upper Black Eddy, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
