MAHON, Thaddeus Maclay, a Representative from Franklin County; born, January 3, 1840 in Green Village, Franklin County, Pa.; private, Company A, 126th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1863, Civil War); private, Company E, 182nd Regiment, 21st Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry (1864-1865, Civil War); blacksmith; clerk, Franklin County Courts; attorney (1871-1916); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1871 and 1872; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1873); president, Baltimore and Cumberland Valley Railroads; unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1876); elected, United States Congress (1893-1907); died, May 31, 1916 in Scotland, Franklin County, Pennsylvania; interred, Cedar Grove Cemetery, Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania.
