McCREARY, Robert DuBois, a Representative from Venango County; born, 1833 in Great Bend, Susquehanna County, Pa.; civil engineer; assistant leveler, Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad; principal assistant engineer, Macon & Brunswick Railroad; assistant engineer, Dubuque & Pacific Railroad; chief engineer, Oil City and Pithole Railroad; freight dispatcher, Allegheny Valley Rail Road; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1872 and 1873; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1874); chief engineer, Buffalo, Pittsburg & Western Railroad; chief engineer, Buffalo, New York & Philadelphia Railroad; engineer of maintenance ways, Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad; chief engineer, Pennsylvania Railroad; died, July 20, 1904 in East Aurora, Erie County, New York; interred, East Aurora Cemetery, East Aurora, Erie County, New York.
