BROCKWAY, Charles B., a Representative from Columbia County; born, March 1, 1840 in Berwick, Columbia County, Pa.; sergeant, Company A, 35th Regiment, 6th Pennsylvania Volunteer Reserves (1861, Civil War); 1st Lieutenant, Battery F, 43rd Regiment, First Pennsylvania Light Artillery (Civil War, 1861-1864); employed, Baltimore to Pittston canal; clerk, Pennsylvania Adjutant General’s office (1858); private secretary, M. Buckalew, Minister to Ecuador (1858-1859); teacher; lawyer; proprietor, publisher and editor, The Columbian (1867-1869, 1872, 1875-1879); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1870, 1878); elected, delegate, Democratic National Conference (1870); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1872 term; reelected to the House for 2 more terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1875 term; died, January 3, 1888 in Bloomsburg, Columbia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Old Rosemont Cemetery, Bloomsburg, Columbia County, Pennsylvania.
