WIMMER, Sebastian, a Representative from Elk County; born, January 5, 1831 in Thalmassing, Bavaria, Germany; graduated, Polytechnic School, 1849; graduated, Iron City Commercial College; assistant construction engineer, Allegheny Valley Railroad (1853) and Minneapolis & Cedar Valley Railroad (1858-1859); bookkeeper, Saint Vincent Abbey (1860-1862); surveyor, Pennsylvania Railroad Company (1862-1863); construction engineer, Philadelphia & Erie Railroad (1863-1865), Vera Cruz & Mexico City Railroad (1865-1867) and Allegheny Valley Railroad (1874); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1875 and 1876 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1877 term; chief engineer, Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad (1879-1882), Erie & Wyoming Valley Railroad and Yonkers Rapid Transit Railroad (1888); died, November 29, 1921, in Beatty, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; interred, St. Mary’s Cemetery, St. Mary’s, Elk County, Pennsylvania.
