GUNSTER, Frederick William, a Representative from Luzerne County; born, September 15, 1845 in Lockweiler, Wadern, Germany; A.B., Williams College, Ma.,1867; A.M., Williams College, 1869; attorney-at-law (1868-1888); elected, delegate, Democratic State Convention; attorney, Scranton school board (1873-1888); city attorney, Scranton; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1874 and 1875; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1876); elected, District Attorney, Lackawanna County (1878-1881); director, Third National Bank of Scranton; director, Meredith Run Coal Company; director, Pennsylvania Oral School for Deaf Mutes (now Pennsylvania School for the Deaf); director, Lackawanna Hospital; appointed and elected, judge, Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Lackawanna County (1888-1900); died, January 30, 1900 in Tunkhannock, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania; interred, Hanover Green Cemetery, Hanover, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
