RAPSHER, William M., a Representative from Carbon County; born, April 23, 1843 in Northampton County, Pa.; attended, Albion College; sergeant, Company E, 6th Regiment, Michigan Volunteer Infantry (1861-1865, Civil War); teacher (4 years); attorney-at-law (1871-1897); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1876 and 1877; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1878); elected, secretary, common council, Mauch Chunk (1880); unsuccessful campaign, judge, Supreme Court of Pennsylvania (1887); elected, District Attorney, Carbon County (1887-1890); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1891-1894); partner, Rapsher & Cassidy; died, January 26, 1897 in Lehighton, Carbon County, Pennsylvania; interred, Gnaden Huetten Cemetery, Lehighton, Carbon County, Pennsylvania.
