POTTER, Orson Osborne, a Representative from Crawford County; born, November 27, 1827 at Potter’s Corners, Crawford County, Pa.; attended, Kingsville Academy, Oh.; graduated, Allegheny College; first lieutenant, Company B, 31st Regiment, New York Volunteer Infantry (1861-1862, Civil War); captain, Company F and B, 31st Regiment, New York Volunteer Infantry (1862-1863, Civil War); quartermaster major, United States Army Volunteers (1863-1866, Civil War); postmaster, United States Postal Service, Potter’s Corners (1869-1872); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1877 and 1878 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1879 term; died, May 8, 1892 in Vernon Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Denny Cemetery, Vernon Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
