JAMES, Robert Evan, a Representative from Northampton County; born, August 9, 1848 in Centreville, Northampton County, Pa.; attended, Pennsylvania College (now Gettysburg College); attended, Lewisburg Academy (now Bucknell University); graduated, Lafayette College, 1869; principal, Easton High School (1870-1872); attorney-at-law (1872-1913); elected, school board president, Easton, Pa. (1875-1876); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1876 and 1877; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1878); elected, solicitor, Northampton County (1879-1880); elected, District Attorney, Northampton County (1881-1884); unsuccessful campaign, Governor of Pennsylvania (1882); unsuccessful campaign, judge, Lebanon-Dauphin District (1883); appointed, United States National Bank Examiner, Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey (1885-1890); co-founder and president, Easton Trust Company; chair, Association of Trust Companies of the State of Pennsylvania; died, November 10, 1913 in Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania; interred, Easton Cemetery, Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
