SULLIVAN, Joseph A., a Representative from Philadelphia County; born in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pa., August 9, 1911; steel researcher and district representative, State Workmen’s Insurance Fund; member, 25th Ward Democratic Executive Committee; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1958 and reelected to serve 8 more consecutive terms; appointed, Select Committee to Investigate the Betsy Ross Bridge, The Pulaski Expressway and the Northeast Freeway (1973); resigned from the House, December 31, 1975; member, Democratic State Committee (1969-1972); elected, sheriff, Philadelphia County (1977-1984); died, March 15, 2002 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
