FOWLER, Marmaduke P., a Representative from Schuylkill County; born, July 25, 1826 in Centre Township, Columbia County, Pa.; first lieutenant, Company E, 27th Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1863, Civil War); farmer; engaged, mercantile, railroad, and mining businesses; member, board of directors, Anthracite Bank of Tamaqua; elected, council, Tamaqua; elected, school board, Tamaqua; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Tamaqua (1861-1865); elected, delegate, Republican State Convention (1872, 1873); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to serve the 1877 term; seated as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in the 1878 term as a result of contested election, May 1, 1878; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1879 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1895 term; lumber merchant; died, August 21, 1903 in Shenandoah, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; interred, Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
