THICKSTUN, Lewis William, a Representative from Crawford County; born in Cussewago Township, Crawford County, Pa., March 24, 1823; attended, Kingsville Academy, Oh.; proprietor and editor, Crawford Journal; editor, Meadville Republican; appointed, transcribing clerk, Pennsylvania State Senate (1872-1873); elected as a National Greenback to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1879 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House for the 1881 term; president, school board, Cussewago Independent school district; editorial writer, Evening Republican; died, October 15, 1904 in Metuchen, Middlesex County, New Jersey; interred, First Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Metuchen, Middlesex County, New Jersey.
