SHERWOOD, Daniel Lee, a Representative from Northumberland, Potter and Tioga Counties; born, December 5, 1809 in Marathon, Courtland County, NY; engaged, lumber business; farmer; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1841 and 1842; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1843); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1843-1846); elected, Senate Speaker pro tempore (1846); unsuccessful campaign, canal commissioner (1854); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1856); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1859); reelected to the House in 1876, 1877 and 1878; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1879); died, October 7, 1886 in Northumberland, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.
