LEWIS, Thomas D., a Representative from Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties; born, January 14, 1846 in Glamorganshire, Wales; private, Company F, 48th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1864-1865, Civil War); lieutenant-colonel, (1874-1875), colonel (1875-1878), 9th Regiment, Pennsylvania National Guard; major, Third Brigade, Pennsylvania National Guard (1878-1879); pharmacist; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1878; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1880); elected, president, school board, Scranton (1883); died, April 29, 1895 in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania; interred, Dunmore Cemetery, Dunmore, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.
