LEIGH, John W., a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, August 11, 1826 in Baltimore, Md.; watchmaker; brick manufacturer; elected, city council, Philadelphia; appointed, commissioner of city property, Philadelphia; appointed, commissioner of building South Street bridge; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to serve the 1875 term; reelected to serve the 1876, 1877, 1878 and 1879 terms; died, April 30, 1892 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Woodlands Cemetery, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.
