SEELY, Philip Hess, a Representative from Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties; born, February 23, 1835 in Salem, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania; sergeant, Company D, 199th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1864-1865, Civil War); farmer; engaged in the mercantile business; miller; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1880; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1882); elected, justice of the peace (1887-1907); died, November 23, 1914 in Salem, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania; interred, Beach Grove Cemetery, Beach Haven, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
