NEELY, James Upton, a Representative from Adams County; born, February 5, 1845 in Hunterstown, Adams County; attended, Gettysburg College; engaged in mercantile business; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1880; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1882); co-founder and director, First National Bank of Fairfield; director, Gettysburg Mutual Fire Insurance Company; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Fairfield (1885-1889, 1893-1897); died, August 25, 1917 in Fairfield, Adams County, Pennsylvania; interred, Fairfield Union Cemetery, Fairfield, Adams County, Pennsylvania.
