EDWARDS, Joseph J., a Representative from Schuylkill County; born, July 25, 1843 in Wadesville, Schuylkill County, Pa.; attended, Millersville State Normal School (now Millersville University of Pennsylvania); graduated, Eastman Business College; private, Company G, 108th Regiment, 11th Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry (1865, Civil War); elected, deputy recorder, Schuylkill County (1872-1875, 1887-1890); elected, school director, St. Clair; book-keeper; coal miner; elected, delegate, Republican State Convention (1878); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1880; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1882); quarry foreman, Pennsylvania Diamond Drill Company; engaged, real estate business; elected, justice of the peace, St. Clair, Pa. (1896-1898); died, January 9, 1898 in St. Clair, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; interred, Charles Baber Cemetery, Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
