CAMPBELL, William, a Representative from York County; born, October 26, 1833 in Lower Chanceford Township, York County, Pa.; first lieutenant, Independent Company, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1863, Civil War); sergeant, Company B, 209th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1864-1865, Civil War); farmer; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1878 and 1880; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1882); died, November 21, 1883 in Lower Chanceford Township, York County, Pennsylvania; interred, Airville United Presbyterian Cemetery, Airville, York County, Pennsylvania.
