McGowan" (1944-1945), United States Navy (1944-1946, World War II and Korean War, 1951-1953); attorney; chair, Ebensburg Planning Commission; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1965 term and served 6 more consecutive terms; elected, Majority Caucus Chair (1969-1972, 1975-1978); elected, Minority Policy Committee Chair (1973-1974); appointed, Joint State Government Commission (1969-1978); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the house (1978); died, May 14, 1982 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.
